TPr Dr. Chee Ping Ngang is the Director of Research and Development Division, PLANMalaysia (Federal Department of Town and Country Planning), Ministry of Local Government Development. She obtained her Bachelor Degree in Town and Regional Planning from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 1997, Master of Landscape Architecture (Universiti Putra Malaysia, UPM) in 2002 and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Climate Change and Spatial Planning (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, UKM) in 2015. She has more than 25 years’ experience in urban and regional planning with major involvements in spatial planning research and development, preparation of Planning Guidelines, Sustainability Assessment and Environmental Planning. Her major contributions and involvement in urban planning and development include the preparation of more than 40 in-house planning guidelines for ministries, technical agencies, state governments, and local authorities. Among her notable achievements is the development of Malaysia’s first Planning Guide for Social Impact Assessment (SIA). She also leads the secretariat team responsible for coordinating and processing all Category A Social Impact Assessment reports nationwide.
